Mizuno Wave Rebellion Flash 2
The Mizuno Wave Rebellion Flash 2 is a fast and fun shoe for workouts and racing.
It has a very unusual shape. The heel is strongly cut away and the rocker is aggressive. This helps you move forward quickly and makes toe-off feel fast.
The shoe works best for midfoot and forefoot runners. Heel strikers may need more time to get used to it.
The midsole has two layers. The top layer is soft and bouncy. The lower layer is firmer and gives more control. There is also a fiberglass Wave Plate inside. It adds some snap, but the shoe still feels less stiff than a typical carbon racing shoe.
The Flash 2 feels best when the pace gets faster. It works well for tempo runs, intervals, threshold sessions and long runs with faster sections. It can also be used for racing.
The upper is light and thin. The fit is true to size for most runners. It feels more like a performance shoe than a soft daily trainer.
The outsole is durable and gives good grip on dry roads. The shoe also holds up well after many faster sessions.
The main downside is stability. The heel and midfoot are quite narrow. This shoe is not the best choice if you need extra support.
